After watching José James's 'Peace Power Change' video, I was inspired by its message about cruelty towards African Americans in America. The video features people such as Robert Glasper, Fab 5 Freddy, Feminista Jones, Ray Angry of the Roots, and many others (James). Each person is holding up a sign with a message to the viewers about how they want the world to change.

I believe the ‘Peace Power Change’ video was/is very effective in its message about racial justice in America. Almost every person held up a sign that read #peace and #Justice. Others held up signs about family. Also as an African American man myself I was greatly affected by the video. I have seen my people oppressed as if we are nothing in the short amount of time I have been alive. I want change just as much as they do. America has come along way in the racial war, but there will never be an end unless we keep up the good fight and let people know we shouldn’t be judged on our appearance but on our character. The world must know how the African American community is being treated in their everyday lives because some people believe the war on race is over.

A hashtag is a word or phrase preceded by a hash or pound sign (#) and used to identify messages on a specific topic used primarily on twitter and some times on Instagram. Based on this definition I guess it puts tweets into categories based on the hashtag. The hashtags used in the video were to inform the viewers that there are more people out there who believe in the same goal.

This video is related to what is being taught in WMS 2000 because it is bringing to light that there are people who are being treated unfairly and who want peace and justice for everyone. In class we talked about how people are judged based on their appearance instead of the person they are on the inside. It does not matter if it is racism, sexism, ageism or any other ism that categorizes people. Everyone should be treated equally. Most have to fight for equality. By learning about how others are treated in everyday life will hopefully open peoples eyes so they can see that the world is not truly equal some of us are still suffering.
